CONCEPT

Radiance Village is an approximately 75-story high structure inspired by Babel-IIB, my favorite arcology design of Italian architect Paolo Soleri. While not a true arcology due to its much lower population density, it still maintains the basic arcology concept of a single building that contains an entire community. Radiance Village has a population density of 116 people per hectare, close to that of New York City. It is set an an era a few centuries from now when advanced hovercraft have largely replaced ground transportation for many uses.

PROJECT STATUS

The Radiance Village project moved forward in Fall 2009 with major modeling of the main structure completed. The images above show the building with only one of the three major portions visible. Work remains to be done adding various background and landscaping props. I anticipate completion sometime in 2010.
