This project is my first major project done using the 3D CGI program Rhino. Felicity Towers is inspired by Paolo Soleri's book, Arcology: The City in the Image of Man. While the residential structures here are much smaller than most of Soleri's designs, they maintain the basic arcology concept of a large building that serves as a self-contained community. My purpose in designing buildings that may seem more like glorified apartment buildings than a real arcologies is to suggest that arcologies need not overpower their inhabitants with their size but could be built at a more human scale. Felicity Towers was modeled using Rhino 4 with some geometry imported from older TrueSpace generated buildings. The images were rendered using Rhino 4's native renderer as well as the Penguin add-on cartoon renderer for Rhino. The abstract sculptures were created by Renderosity artist Designfera and the fountains were provided by Bodhi Creations.
