CONCEPT

The Depths of Dream was originally conceived as a giant traveling space habitat. Its design has evolved over the years and now it serves as a large deep space installation set in the Deep Space Exploration Group universe. The overall size for the Depths of Dream has shrunk but is it still one of the largest objects I have created as a speculative spaceship designer.

COMMENTARY

The concept for Depths of Dream was born while I was taking a leisurely walk at a local nature preserve in 1999. I wanted to create a gigantic space-borne community that also served as a kind of space-ark. I also wanted to incorporate the number nine as a recurring design theme linking Depths of Dream with my identity as a member of the Baha'i Faith. The number nine is used in the design of all Baha'i Houses of Worship around the world. Another space-based design of mine that mimics even more literally Baha'i Houses of Worship is Star-Faring Habitat Daybreak of Discovery.
