Hardware and Software used by the Artist

I use a variety of hardware and software in the creation of my speculative spaceship designs. I have been doing artwork on the computer since about 1995.

My current home computer hardware is as follows:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad-Core with 2.33 GHz Processor

HARD DRIVE: 1 TB (1000 GB)

MOTHERBOARD: Intel DP43TF

RAM: 6 GB

VIDEO CARD: EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT Video Card with 1 GB RAM

My current home computer software is as follows:

2D ILLUSTRATION: CorelDraw X3

2D PAINT PROGRAMS: Corel Photo-Paint X3, Adobe Photoshop 7, Photoshop plug-in Lunarcell, Diard Software Universe Image Creator

3D MODELING: Rhino 4 and SketchUp 7

RENDERING: Flamingo 2 and Penguin 2

3D MODEL FILE TRANSLATION: AccuTrans 3D V2.11.4

DRAFTING: AutoCAD LT 2009

WEBSITE DESIGN: Adobe Dreamweaver CS4, Likno Software's AllMenusPro

OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows Vista Home Premium Edition

While I like the software I use, there are many other fine programs out there for both 2D and 3D imaging. I have tried out numerous 3D CGI software packages over the years. I was a loyal user of TrueSpace for six years and am now using Rhino and SketchUp as my primary 3D CGI software. In the end, it is the person using the software who determines the quality of the images she or he creates. When I am viewing the artwork of others, the two things that catch my eye the most are the originality of the images presented, and the skill with which they have been depicted.
